What do you think about Public Safety Officials being arrested

Deputy Sheriff from Hillsborough County now a Convicted Felon

Raymond Choy, 37, was found guilty in a court of law and sentenced to 5 years in prison and 10 years of probation.

Choy had initially faced 60 years if convicted and for some reason the prosecutors elected to offer Choy a plea deal.

So he was smart enough to withdraw his not guilty plea which he claimed initially.

Oh yeah, what happened you are asking about now, what landed Choy in prison?

Choy was on duty as a Hillsborough County Deputy and responded to a hit and run call. Choy found the hit and run suspect and agreed to release her from custody if she performed oral sex on him in April of 2007.

Choy was linked to the victim by DNA test.

Choy was convicted of sexual battery and false imprisonment.

Another prime example of the system failing, there is no reason this man should have been given any plea deal. He should be serving the full 60 years in prison.

Maybe the victim did not want to testify but regardless he illegally held someone against their will. Then there was the sex act, maybe the victim agreed to this at first who knows.

There had to be some reason the prosecution agreed to a plea deal.

Anyway, I guess as he sits in prison for the next 5 years it will give him some time to think about the errors of his ways.

Stupid Criminals still equals quick arrest, just ask Cole Woodworth.

Cole Woodworth, 20, has been charged with impersonating a police officer.

Woodworth elected to skip “get a job as a cop” before he decided to start working traffic enforcement.

Woodworth was able to install red and blue flashing LED lights in his car and he managed to get a car pulled over in the intersection of MLK and 94th Ave N.

Woodworth allegedly took the victims drivers license and registration and then all of the sudden a real off duty St. Petersburg Police Officer drove by and did not recognize Woodworth or the car he was in.

So the real Off Duty Officer stopped and detained Woodworth at the scene until back up arrived.

Woodworth is in the US Air Force and works as an air traffic controller trainee at MacDill Air Force Base.

Woodworth is married and lives in St. Petersburg. Who knows why he would have the need to install red and blue LED lights in his car and pull people over.

Oh well stupid criminals do equal quick arrest.

Woodworth was charged with the following

1) FALSELY PERSONATING AN OFFICER
2) PROHIBITED USE OF CERTAIN LIGHTS
3) VOP DUI
4) RESISTING AN OFFICER W/O VIOL (OBSTRUCTION)

Now I don’t know what would be worse being arrested of having all of my tattoo information posted on line. They were pretty funny.

Anyway, on 4/15/09, Woodworth was charged with DUI hence the VOP charge on the night of 12/6/2009 when he elected to start working as a cop for St. Petersburg…

Maybe police cars should have a warning, “Don’t Try This at Home”

Pinellas County Juvenile Detention Corporal now a Convicted Felon.

Parris Woods was a corporal at the Pinellas County Juvenile Detention Center and is now a convicted felon for sexually soliciting a young female teenager.

Gulfport Police said a school resource officer got the investigation started after the 14 year old female student reported that she had received text messages from a man who claimed he was employed at a local juvenile detention center where the teen has recently been taken.

It was a good thing that the school resource officer was just recently certified in cyber safety by the attorney generals cyber crime unit.

During the text messages it has been reported that Woods sent nude and obscene images of himself along with a request to meet in person so they could have sexual activities.

The girl (actually the police) said sure lets meet and once Woods arrived at the meeting place he found the Police waiting there for him and not the 14 year old girl. The victim said she had never met Woods and had just started to get the text messages from him.

Whatever happened to all of the dating web sites for a date?

Anyway, his actions have landed him 8 years in prison and once his sentence has been served he will have to register as a sex offender.

I have to wonder what people like this think. Obviously they are not thinking at all. But why would you think that just because you have access to her file at a juvenile detention center you would have the right to text her and send nude and obscene pictures to her. Not to mention working in a detention center and having the training from the academy, knowing the laws, knowing the risk of losing everything in your life for sexual fun with a minor.

Even though I don’t understand his actions at least he is where he belongs, behind bars for the next 8 years of his life as a sex offender.

Jordan Valdez has been given probation as a juvenile.

Sadly the system failed in this case.

Jordan Valdez was charged as an adult for the hit and run that took the life of Melissa Sjostrom.

The teenager was 16 at the time of the crash and as we all know she left the scene and left Melissa Sjostrom for dead.

Her day in court proved to be a waste of time as she was sentenced to 15 months of probation as a juvenile.

Her parents said the conviction as an adult would have jeopardized their daughters’ academic future.

What about the future of the person she killed?

Sadly Valdez will be a murderer for the rest of her life and the fact she got probation will be nothing compared to having to live with the fact she took someone’s life at such a young age.

I cannot fault the parents for wanting the best for their daughter
,
but I can find fault in the system for allowing the charges to be reverted back to a juvenile charge, she committed an adult crime and should have had to do the time.

But I guess in Tampa if you are a teenager you can run over anyone you want and leave them for dead.

Cases like this is a prime example of where our system fails.

Polk County Deputy Arrested.

James Pruitt, 37, a Deputy Sheriff at Polk County Sheriff’s Department has been arrested for DUI.

Pruitt was arrested when he was found passed out behind the wheel of his car. The motor was still running.

Other Deputies had to perform field sobriety test on one of their own and it was reported that Pruitt failed those field sobriety test and was taken to the Polk County Jail.

Leave it to the Polk County Sheriff, strict enforcement even for a deputy. Pruitt was suspended without pay until the investigation is complete.

I would think the investigation is complete since he was arrested and taken to jail, maybe they should have posted he has been suspended pending the outcome of his trial.

For once you don’t see a public safety official being suspended with pay until the outcome, paying someone for violating the law drives me crazy and I think it should never happen.

But that’s just my thoughts… Doesn't mean you have to agree with me, but after all this is my blog and place for me to post my thoughts....

Paramedic Arrested for DUI

Levic Allen, 43, was driving along State Route 60 when he came upon some stopped traffic and instead of him stopping along with the other traffic, he kept going.

Of course he collided with the rear end of a stopped pick-up and the pick-up ended up striking the vehicle in from of him. Luckily there were no injuries reported from the accident.

Allen was charged with DUI involving property damage.

His blood alcohol test came back over twice the legal limit of .08. For some reason there were 2 test results posted by the media one was .177 and the second was reported to be .181

Allen is a paramedic for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
